Space invaders

turquoise-turbulence-bruarfoss-fludir-icelandA smirky non-Christian remarked that praying for money seemed at odds with the gospels. If you’re only greedy, I tend to agree. But when you are desperately trying to make rent for your church building, it’s spot on.

After being chased off by hostile Philistines, Isaac and crew find a place Rehoboth, which means “spacious place.” (Gen. 26:22)

wide_open_2_900If you’re having troubles, keep moving forward because God is going to bring you to a spacious place. After months (or years) of struggling to make ends meet, God promises to bring you to a spaciousness in your monthly budget. Hallelujah! Victory over the bills!

186266134558462105_VS4BPBFJ_cIn Guatemala, we worked 15 hour days during Easter Week hawking food to the crowds in the “processions,” marches which escort Catholic statues through the streets. At the end of ardor, we would count up to $300, just a fraction of our mortgage.

Do your best, and God will provide the rest,  I taught. So we labored. And we prayed. And month after month, God miraculously brought in the mortgage money.

Maybe you can relate to Isaac. Look for your Rehoboth. Long and pray for spaciousness.

“And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.”
    Philippians 4:19

“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”
    Matthew 6:33

  2. Pushed to the wall, I called to GOD;
from the wide open spaces, he answered. (Psalm 118, Msg)

  3. There is a common misconception that money is evil and seeking money is also evil. Money is simply a tool, it is not evil and it is not corruption. People’s pursuit of money can become evil and corrupt. When we pray to do God’s will or work on earth, there is nothing wrong with asking for the tools to do so. We should not be ashamed if money is one of them..
    Excellent message, once again!

  4. Wonderful post. He will provide! Beautiful pictures!

  5. I’ve heard non-Christians misquote the Bible saying “Money is the root of all evil.” (There’s even a rock song with that phrase in it!) I pointed out to someone recently that money is not evil. It’s the “love of money.” God bless you and provide for your needs as you share His Word.

You have a wonderfully simple way of demonstrating our Fathers love. I hope you are able to reach many. And by a long shot, FAITH is the best super power. It is the only way to achieve miracles. Good luck and many blessings.

  7. Some great scriptures already quoted to confirm this message. While reading I was reminded of:
They confronted me in the day of my calamity, But the Lord was my support. He also brought me out into a broad place; He delivered me because He delighted in me. (Psalm 18:18, 19 NKJV)

  8. My church is still in debt for our building; so money is always something to pray about. Me and a number of my peers are still studying, and often the issue of money seems so far away that we are content to let the debt roll on. The older ones always pray that they don’t pass on the debt to our generation!

It’s been a while, but thank you as usual! God bless you!

  9. Amen. ‘But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. 20 Now unto God and our Father be glory for ever and ever.’ Phil 4:19

I too have seen it work. Praise God. May you be richly blessed for your faitfulness.

  10. What a great testimony of God’s faithfulness! May He continue to bless your work!

Thanks for dropping by and liking my post!
