I agree! I’m so blessed to have found and married my life partner. We’re definitely going to be the cute elderly couple holding hands on the beach. And at 49 and 53, we are already halfway there 🙂

My husband and I were married in between our freshman and sophomore year in college. Forty years later, we’re still best friends. A year or so ago, a nice older man stopped us as we were leaving church to tell us that he had seen us holding hands on our way in from the parking lot and that he thought that was nice to see. I was touched that anyone would notice what I consider to be an ordinary everyday thing and also pleased that he took the time to voice his observation to us. It made me realize, in a way I hadn’t been particularly conscious of, that couples can, albeit often unwittingly, give hope to the young and comfort to the old by modeling the small affections common to a long and happy marriage.

Yes, the older married couples sometimes don’t show affection, and they should!
I am blessed to be nearly 20 years. And after all that we have been through, I still look forward to what God will do in the next 20! I often write about the first 20 on my blog and people are amazed at what we have survived. God is good is all I can say.
Amen! I have 22 fortunate years together with my wife. I can definitely say that being a Christian has helped my marriage big time!
