Today there are more than 100 churches in West Africa from our mission. Twenty-five years ago, there were only two.

Two men sparked raging revival from Sierra Leone when it was the second-poorest nation in the world. Pastor Alvin Smith planted a church in Freetown. Pastor Ralph Bowen planted a church in Kabala.

Now their progeny are pastoring in nations scattered across Western Africa — one is even pastoring in France! What fired such unimaginable revival? Prayer did.

Part of the reason why they had such success was because they yosemite6basically had no other resource outside of prayer.

I remember my own foray into missions. We lacked finances. So what could I do? I could pray — that is all. And so pray I did. And God bonfired revival for us!

Nobody wants scarcity. But scarcity was a blessing. As a matter of fact, prayer brought in great resources!

Now, I live in the States. Inundated by resources, I struggle to break the lackadaisical attitude that chokeholds my mind.

wpid-picsart_mercifulwords-wordpress-com_-742Are you languishing in lack? Rejoice and pray! Is abundance suffocating you? Cry out to God that the blessing may never replace the Blesser.

Prayer drove all great revivals in the past. Prayer will drive them today.

  1. Prayer that is desperate for God is effective. One humbles themselves and fully depends on God, listening to his heart. Thanks for the post.

  2. Wow, impressive growth with your churches! God certainly blesses the faithful! I’ve given up trying to rely solely on myself. It never works out—at least not even 1/4 as well when I rely on God instead. Thanks for helping me remember how important it is to pray and of the power of prayer!

  3. Hi my dear please check out the surprise gift for you on http://ardentpt.com/2012/12/27/realty-blog-award/

    • U r always too kind! How are things going?

      • Everything is fine Pastor, hows everything at your end? Our family is blessed in Christ!!

        • How’s your family? My wife went off to Guatemala to see the church family we left there. She hasn’t been back in almost 3 years. But we lived there almost 16. It has been a blessing to see her daily on FaceTime. Thank God for technology. But still I miss here. At least I have the kids here, or else I would be lonely. Thanks for asking! God bless!

          • Yes Pastor thank god for the technology! From the age of 16 I am living away from my parents. I entered school of physical therapy at the age of 16 and I completed it at the age of 21 with internship. During this entire time I could only meet my parents on skype!! After that I lived with my parents for 6 months and then again I went for my masters and now I got married. So I haven’t actually lived with my parents from the age of 16. They are in India. I miss them but then I talk with them everyday on skype! Thank God we have the technology.. I hope your wife comes back soon! I will definitely keep her and your family in my prayers!

  4. I hadn’t realized that there were so few churches in West Africa but it is amazing to know that despite the hostility the number of churches continues to grow!

  8. Thank you so much for the reminder of the power of prayer. All things have suddenly changed for me and though I meditate and attempt to stay present and be open to the mystery of the Universe, I had momentarily forgotten about the Power of Prayer. Blessings to you 🙂

  9. Amen! And historically, it was often the prayer meetings held by young men and women that sparked a revival.

  10. Wonderful! Prayer is so powerful and so vital to all who believe in God, it’s our only way to have an up close and personal relationship with Him.

  11. Thank you for this timely reminder…as we head into a new year. If we learn to bathe our steps in prayer, our direction will never fail. God bless you my brother in Christ.

  12. Yes, in Christ, a new beginning can be every day!
