‘Reproduce’ is better than ‘produce’

Night-fishing-Li-River-Guilin-ChinaActivity is good. Better is to produce. Still better is to reproduce.

Being busy is good. But mere activity could be just spinning your wheels in gravel. With production, you have something to show for your work.

But production is still inferior to “reproduction.” As Christians, we are ultimately called to reproduce Christians, not just “produce” things like manuals and seminars. Reproduction is the highest rung.

It’s also the hardest. With hard work and competent strategy, we get from activity  159596380514897663_sUvR2kbH_bto production. But only God can bring about reproduction. (Just ask couples afflicted with sterility!)

That’s why you shouldn’t just sprinkle prayer on top of your ministry like sugar. You should make it a main ingredient, like flour.

Remember, the disciples fished all night without catching anything. Then Jesus sent them out once more, and when they threw the nets, they were so full they were ripping!

  1. You can never pray enough.
Does that fish bowl really light up? I have to know!:-)

  2. To produce a seed from a fruit tree, 1 must plant the seed, 1 must reproduce, 1 must harvest and eat. Then the cycle can begin again, knowing God supplied the produce seed to reproduce. 🙂 Liked your post

  3. Christ said “I will make you fishers of men.” Nice, down to earth post. Like it allot.

  4. I agree, and billiescauldron sums it all up. Reproduction needs caring and nurturing.

  5. Does a fruit tree know it is producing fruit? To whom does a tree produce the fruit for? Is the fruit of the tree not for the owner of the tree to do as He wishes?

  6. I was and still am always busy busy busy but busy doing nothing productive, not even close to reproductive 🙂 Now I try to be more selective with what I am busy about and hopefully (fingers crossed and lots of prayers, of course) I will be busy doing His will. Thanks for sharing this post – made me realise not all activities are good and without God’s blessings, these activities are futile.

  11. love this! Yes, prayer should be the main ingredient. Even though God is always faithful to answer me, I still often forget to stop and take the time to do it.
