Among other things, the 99% movement was about the disenfranchised and powerless getting power. It didn’t work because the oligarchy won.
Prayer is also about the powerless seizing power. When in this world, you have no means to deliverance, to health, to change lost friends or relatives. You only have prayer. You feel helpless to do anything, and you turn to God, who CAN do everything.
No power structure, conserving its privilege, is going to be able to subvert God, the Power over every other power. Don’t just stand idly by, wringing you hands, woefully wishing things were different. Seize power and change your world: pray today. God has 100% of the power.
Yes He does – always and forever. Even better, He cares about all of us regardless of labels we so eagerly stick on one another.
100%—not 99%
“What do you think? If a man has a hundred sheep, and one of them has gone astray, does he not leave the ninety-nine on the hills and go in search of the one that went astray? And if he finds it, truly, I say to you, he rejoices over it more than over the ninety-nine that never went astray. So it is not the will of my Father who is in heaven that one of these little ones should perish.
Matthew 18:12-14
Hey! That’s a good relation!
Your post inspired the thought and God brought to memory the Scripture. Working together – it’s a good thing.

😀
Real good stuff!
Thanks for the encouragement!!!!
Hmm… I don’t completely agree about the 99% movement. I saw it as envy–ugly envy at that. There will always be rich and poor. But taking money is theft not charity. If a man chooses to be greedy, it is his choice and or trying to take it from him is still theft, no matter our intentions. Choice is the whole point of Christ. We choose our fate, we choose to follow or not. God rewards us according to our efforts. He wouldn’t count a tithe if we’re paying it with someone else’s money. All I saw in that was hate, not love. And an attitude of entitlement. God wasn’t in it, and I think that’s why it ultimately failed.
But I completely agree about winning with prayer and a 100% commitment to God. That’s the only path to true peace and prosperity.
Yes, that’s the way my pastor sees it too! 🙂
Good and godly advice! “He owns the cattle on a thousand hills…”

“Prayer is about the powerless seizing power.” Just what I needed today.
