The value of one soul

Liceo Bilingue La PuertaWhen she came to Christ last year, she was so excited that she began to rebuke classmates for their lackadaisical attitude toward God. She was the one salvation out of the school this year — until he accepted Christ just a few weeks ago when I visited Guatemala. Together, they are the fruit of this year at the Door Christian School in Guatemala.

The irony? We were considering cutting their studies program because of lack of funds. Why are effective ministries not funded? Why do Christians not pay their tithes and promises?

  1. That would be a good question with potentially and easy answer. What we want to buy with our money is more important to us than the work God wants to do with it. In other words, we have an idol. Just my thought on the subject. Great word there in Guatemala by the way bless you for it.

  2. Back when I was in seminary over 35 years ago I saw figures of how much money would be released for ministry (at that time) if every Southern Baptist were to tithe faithfully. The numbers were staggering!

  3. I think one of the greatest crises in America is the lack of the consciousness of God, beginning with the church. We have allowed ourselves to be blinded by men’s teachings and not God’s Word. And we’ve lost many of this generation because of my generations lack of having a personal relationship with Jesus rather than church being the social gathering. NOT against it being a social gathering but that alone will not get you to heaven.
In our ministry I have seen where the teachings of tithing is not Biblical. ex.
“-Tithing in the Church first appears centuries after completion of the Bible
-Only Levite priests could collect tithes, and there are no Levite priests today. -Abraham never tithed on his own personal property or livestock.
-Jacob wouldn’t tithe until God blessed him first.”
Not tithing will not keep you from Heaven but it sure will keep from the blessings of God. Here’s what my husband told someone, “If I make a mortgage payment here for my earthly home then why wouldn’t I tithe to Heavenly home? We’re just sending money ahead & souls are being saved.”

  4. YES!!!! The value of that precious soul. Thank God for your ministry.
    Mal. 3:8-2, Matt. 17:25-27, 2 Cor.8:13-15

  5. Wow praying that God will provide. This is sad to hear of the lack of funding

  6. I don’t think we can really put a value on one soul or one hundred souls. God values us all and I am happy you didn’t cut their studies program. I don’t know why Christians do not pay their tithes and promises but maybe things are hard for a lot of people e.g. loss of jobs, unexpected medical bills, terminal illnesses – the list can be never ending. Yet in spite of all this we keep the faith; God’s got this! Keep the faith 😀
